While Carteret Local Food Network is working to create and maintain new connections every day with local businesses, farmers, producers, restaurants, fresh markets, and consumers, one thing is abundantly clear:
There just aren't enough hours in a day.
We're hoping that by beginning this "Virtual Hub" we can strengthen the connections that already exist and make new connections in our community. Our goal is to provide a place that chefs and restaurants can respond to after their shifts and still touch base with the farmer who is up at dawn. Especially now, when social distancing is so important.
We don't want to lose the face-to-face connections that we enjoy so much, but we are looking into innovative ways to help our local businesses stay in business and help to put food on our tables. Carteret Local Food Network is committed to helping our community and recently launched the first phase of our "Veggie Van" program to help farmers keep up with increasing hours and demands for fresh, local foods and still get their produce to local food markets for consumers to purchase.
Please look around the Hub, introduce yourself, tell us what you're looking for and how we can best help. We are #CarteretStrong.
